MOI stakeholders bid farewell to Oppong Nkrumah

Stakeholders of the Ministry of Information came together to bid farewell to the departing Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

In an event organized by the Ministry in Accra on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, the Ministry’s stakeholders wished the Minister well as he assumes other government duties.

The event marked the culmination of Mr. Oppong Nkrumah's tenure at the ministry, following his reshuffling to the Ministry of Works and Housing in President Akufo-Addo's recent ministerial reshuffle.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Nkrumah expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and collaboration of stakeholders during his tenure. He underscored the collective achievements made in advancing the nation's information landscape and urged stakeholders to consolidate these gains under the leadership of his successor, Fatimatu Abubakar.

"It has been an honor to serve as Minister for Information, and I am immensely grateful for the dedication and commitment of all stakeholders in advancing our common goals," remarked Mr. Oppong Nkrumah." As I embark on this new chapter in my ministerial journey, I urge you to continue to guard what we have worked together to achieve in these 7 years," he added.

Present at the brief ceremony were representatives from organizations including the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), the National Media Commission (NMC), the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), the Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, Graphic Communications Group, the New Times Corporation, and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

The outgoing Minister also took time to meet with Public Relations Officers (PROs) from various state institutions, commending them for their dedication in effectively communicating government initiatives.

In his parting words, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah expressed optimism for the future, stating, "though my time as Minister may be coming to an end, I am confident that the Ministry of Information will continue to play avital role in fostering transparency and engaging with the public. I thank you all for your support and dedication, and I look forward to seeing the continued progress of the Ministry."
