Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has called on the private sector to join hands in a collaborative effort with government towards ensuring sustainable economic growth.
The clarion call was made during the Ghana Mutual Prosperity Dialogues (GMPD) on Thursday, November 2, 2023, where key government officials, industry leaders, and international partners convened.
"One of the important themes that we will go home with today is the theme of collaboration and partnerships, and it starts with open arms with the government side because one side cannot do it all,” he said.
Highlighting the private sector's pivotal role in the nation's economic framework, the Information Minister emphasized that it serves as the backbone of the Ghanaian economy. He stressed that by working together and leveraging their collective strengths, an environment conducive to investment, innovation, and job creation can be established.
The GMPD event holds special importance in light of Ghana's recent economic challenges symbolizing a critical step in Ghana's journey to overcome it economic hurdles and pave way for comprehensive prosperity by harnessing the potential of public-private partnerships.
Among the notable attendees at the dialogue were the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister for Trade and Industry, Kobina Tahir Hammond, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Deputy Minister for Finance Abena Osei-Asare, C.E.O of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Seth Twum Akwaboah, and the Senior Country Manager of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Kyle Kelhofer, along with other distinguished dignitaries.
