Akyemansa District to get new administrative block

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency in the Eastern Region has broken grounds for the construction of a modern three-story office complex intended to house the Akyemansa District Assembly.

At a brief sod cutting ceremony on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah who was in the company of District Chief Executive, Paul Asamoah, local chiefs, and other well-known dignitaries said the timing of the project couldn't be more ideal stressing that the district has faced prolonged inadequacies in essential infrastructure crucial for effective governance, making this initiative particularly significant.

"This project is more than just bricks and mortar. It represents a commitment to improved service delivery for the people of Akyemansa. A well-equipped and functional District Assembly will allow our local government officials to better serve the needs of our communities, fostering development and progress across the district," he said.

He said the district, formed in 2008 has struggled for funds to finance major infrastructure projects. With no seed money since its formation, the district has been without vital infrastructure projects essential for bolstering local governance and services.

The new administrative block, funded by Government of Ghana through Local Government will encompass forty office spaces designated for various district departments such as Agriculture, Education, and Health, in addition to offices for both the MP and the DCE. Additionally, the complex will feature an assembly hall, washrooms, and a parking lot.

In addition to the assembly block, the district will see the construction of a separate block to house the Tradition Council of the area. This block comes with an auditorium, a registry and office spaces for local chiefs which will be funded by the MP.

The construction works is being undertaken by Modern International Developers and is expected to be completed within a year, according to Mr. Felix Adenyoh, the lead contractor for the project.

This, DCE Paul Asamoah urged the contractors to uphold the highest standards of quality and adhere to the stipulated timeline.
