Website to Combat Misinformation

The Ghana Today website is a new tool launched by the Information Services Department (ISD) of the Ministry of Information in Ghana. The website is aimed at combating the spread of misinformation in the country by providing users with accurate and reliable news and information in real-time. The platform identifies and counters false information and provides direct information from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) about the works of government.

The website, which was launched by Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is a repository of all happenings in government, providing facts about government projects and programs, full texts of all speeches by heads of MDAs, official communications and publications, policies, and programme documents. The launch of the Ghana Today website is part of the re-organization and retooling programme of the ISD spearheaded by the Minister which is aimed at equipping it to serve more audiences even as the times and media consumption patterns change. The website is expected to empower Ghanaians to take an active role in the fight against fake news and misinformation by providing accurate and reliable news and information.
