Roads and electricity being prioritized around Agenda 111 projects

Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has indicated that government is prioritizing the development of roads and electricity infrastructure around Agenda 111 project sites as part of a broader plan to bring development closer to areas where these hospitals are sited.

He made this known during a visit to the Kpassa project site on Monday, September 11, 2023.

"Agenda 111 is not just about constructing hospitals; it's about ensuring that these facilities are fully functional and accessible to all Ghanaians.

"As we construct these hospitals, we are also working on improving road networks leading to these facilities. Additionally, ensuring a stable supply of electricity is a top priority to guarantee uninterrupted healthcare services," explained Minister Oppong Nkrumah.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that these critical healthcare facilities are easily accessible and well-equipped with essential services highlighting government's commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure support to complement the healthcare initiative.

Present during the visit were the Oti Regional Minister, Joshua Gmayenaam Makubu, Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Project Consultant, Paul Osei, Traditional and Religious Heads, Officials of the Agenda 111 Monitoring and Evaluation Secretariat at the Presidency as well as other well-known dignitaries.

Updates on Construction works


Project Consultant Paul Osei shared positive updates on the progress of works in the Region, noting that the Kpassa project is already at an advanced level of completion, with most of the work already accomplished. He gave assurance that the project would be completed and handed over to the government in January 2024.

Providing more updates on construction works nationwide, Mr. Osei said on average, most contractors have completed about 52 percent of the work on all project sites, expressing hope that the majority would be finished and commissioned by the end of the year.

On his part, Mr, Makubu, applauded the Agenda 111 projects in Kpassa as a testament to the President's commitment to upgrading healthcare infrastructure in the country. He expressed gratitude for the various developmental projects initiated in the region since its creation in 2018.

The Agenda 111 project encompasses the construction of 101 district hospitals in regions without such facilities, 2 psychiatric hospitals, 7 regional hospitals, and the rehabilitation of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital. This ambitious initiative aims to bridge healthcare gaps and improve access to quality healthcare services for all Ghanaians.
